| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: The detachment of brown macroalgae on the southern coast of Peru is generated by oceanographic causes related to heavy swell, coastal marine currents, the degree of exposure to the waves and larger scale events such as El Niño, which results in large strandings of this resource. The largest stranded biomasses are found in the regions of Ica, Arequipa and Moquegua, where a productive activity is carried out through the harvesting of brown macroalgae on the shore. In recent years, Imarpe has been developing studies on stranded brown macroalgae in order to determine the most common stranding sites, the composition of stranded species, the seasonal productivity of these sites and the loss of humidity of stranded macroalgae. The objective of this document is to describe the methodology applied in order to obtain information on stranded macroalgae so that they can be replicated and compared over time. | - |
