Santa Rosa y Punta Meca (Tacna).
ABSTRACT: The diversity and abundance of the benthic communities associated to the matrices of Pyura chilensis Molina, 1782 and Semimytilus algosus (Gould, 1850) in the areas of Punta Coles (Moquegua), Santa Rosa and Punta Meca (Tacna) were analyzed. By means of Hook up dive and using three replicate quadrants of 0.25 m2 per station, samples were collected during the months of March, June, September and November of 2015, from the shallow subtidal to 15 m depth. In Punta Coles, 80 taxa were found associated to the P. chilensis matrices, identifying 9 taxonomic groups, arthropods were outstanding by its richness and abundance. In Santa Rosa and Punta Mecca there were 61 and 58 taxa respectively associated with the matrices of S. algosus. Seven taxonomic groups were identified, with mollusks being highly prominent. The attributes of richness and abundance of these benthic communities presented significant spatial and temporal differences, which allows us to deduce that the effect of these matrices on the diversity and abundance of the communities tends to vary within each zone and between zones. These results allow us to discuss in terms of diversity patterns that the increase of the species bioengineer P. chilensis directly influences the increase of the richness of the communities that it hosts, unlike S. algosus where a similar pattern is not observed |
